The 9th annual Symposium in Human Needs and Global Resources Program (HNGR), will take place Thursday, February 26 through Saturday, February 28 at Wheaton College. The symposium is sponsored by the John Deere Foundation. The plenary address, titled "The Hungry Shall Be Filled: Conflict, Reconciliation and Food Security" will be delivered by Fr. Emmanuel Katongole. Fr. Katongole is Associate Professor of Theology and Peace Studies at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. He is co-founder and former director of the Center for Reconciliation at Duke University. His lecture will focus on the role of reconciliation in the multiple dimensions of post-conflict recovery, with a focus on regional examples from East Africa that directly address agricultural initiatives as integral to the process of rebuilding peaceful communities that support healthy agrarian societies. In addition to the plenary address, the symposium will offer a series of panels and workshops hosted by agricultural and development practitioners, Wheaton faculty, and alumni and interns from the Human Needs and Global Resources Program.
