Wheaton College's Department of Sociology and Anthropology hosts the 11th annual Ivan J. Fahs Memorial Lecture. Dr. Teresa A. Sullivan, President of the University of Virginia will deliver this year's lecture titled "Honor as a 21st Century Concept." Dr. Sullivan was elected as the eighth President of the University of Virginia on August 1, 2010. Prior to being at U. Va., Sullivan served as Provost and executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Michigan, as well as Professor of Sociology in their College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Her areas of research in Sociology focus on labor force demography with an emphasis on economic marginality and consumer debt. She has authored or co-authored six books, and more than 50 scholarly articles. Ivan J. Fahs served the Sociology Department at Wheaton College faithfully for many years as a professor. Behind a tenacious commitment to excellence was a man of great compassion. A year after his death in 2002, the department sponsored its first conference in memory of Dr. Fahs.
