Lecture by Historian Randall Balmer

Event Description The Center for Applied Christian Ethics at Wheaton College presents a lecture by prize-winning historian Randall Balmer. The lecture is titled "His Own Received Him Not: Jimmy Carter, the Religious Right, and the Eclipse of Progressive Evangelicalism." Dr. Balmer is the Dartmouth Professor in the Arts and Sciences and chair of the department of religion at Dartmouth College. His op-ed articles have appeared in newspapers across the country and he is regularly asked to comment on religion and American life. He has appeared frequently on network television, "NPR," "The Colbert Report" and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." He is the author of more than a dozen books and will be lecturing on his most recent publication "Redeemer: The Life of Jimmy Carter" (Basic Books, 2014).
