"Nuclear Energy: Realizing the Promise"

Event Description The Physics Department at Wheaton College presents the annual Science Symposium March 26-27. This year's symposium is titled "Nuclear Energy: Realizing the Promise." Nuclear engineering experts will examine the topic of nuclear energy and its potential as a safe and clean energy source; the possibility of harnessing nuclear energy to prevent global warming; and the potential of innovative future nuclear technologies. Speakers include Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Tennessee Dr. Ivan Maldonado;Professor of Nuclear Engineering in the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Department of Engineering Physics Dr. Paul Wilson; and Argonne National Laboratory Nuclear Engineer Dr. Dave Grabaskas. In addition to presentations, a screening and panel discussion of Pandora's Promise will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26. The film, directed by Robert Stone, tells the stories of several prominent environmentalists who changed their position on nuclear energy. The symposium sessions will be held at 7 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings.


Event Location The symposium events will occur in room 145 in the Meyer Science Center, located at 430 Howard Street in Wheaton, IL 60187.
