State of Our Communities hosted by League of Women Voters of Wheaton

Date: January 16, 2014 Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Event Description

Tip O’Neil famously said, “All politics is local.” The statement may be truer now than ever, especially with state and federal politics affecting our communities so dramatically. Yet, local nonpartisan elections see low voter turnout, and the elected officials of our cities, towns and villages are often unknown to their citizens.

The League of Women Voters of Wheaton, a nonpartisan political organization serving Wheaton, Warrenville, Winfield, West Chicago and Carol Stream will present “The State of Our Communities” on Thursday, January 16, 2014. Mayor David Brummel of Warrenville, Mayor Ruben Pineda of West Chicago, City Council Member Phil Suess of Wheaton and Village Manager Joseph Breinig of Carol Stream will be the panelists for this program. They will share information about their communities and answer questions from the audience.

This program is free and open to the public, and the Wheaton League welcomes citizens from our surrounding communities to join us for an interesting and informative evening. The program will be held at the Wheaton Park District Community Center, 1777 S. Blanchard, Wheaton. There will be a meet and greet at 7:00 PM and the program will begin at 7:30 PM.
