The Buddhist Path of Serenity and Insight - A Lecture

Date: November 29, 2012 Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Event Description

The Buddha taught a path by which people can realize enlightenment and freedom. The practice of meditation forms an essential part of this path, and all of us can derive great benefit from it. It only requires that we take time for introspection, observe the nature of the mind, and teach it to abandon its constant preoccupation with just “thinking about stuff.” Gradually, we begin to experience deep inner peace and clarity. We see that the mind is the creator of the world, and we can choose what to create.

Ajahn Pasanno (Reed Perry) was raised in Manitoba, Canada. He studied history at the University of Winnipeg. After graduating he spent some time traveling in India and Thailand. In 1974 he became a Buddhist monk and started his training under the Venerable Ajahn Chah, one of the foremost Thai meditation masters. In 1982, Ajahn Pasanno was appointed abbot of Wat Nanachat, and became a highly respected Dhamma teacher in Thailand. He moved to California in 1997 and established Abhayagiri Monastery where he is currently the abbot.

Ajahn Pasanno will also be leading a Meditation Retreat on Nov 30 - Dec 1.
