Apr 30    IBVM Loretto Sisters Stepping forWARD 2022 Walk & Picnic
Registration Open!
Take a step towards supporting Mary Ward Center (MWC), their students and staff by joining the IBVM Loretto Sisters on a 1-mile walk around Herrick Lake, followed by a picnic lunch.
As a ministry of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM), Mary Ward Center embraces the Institute’s Direction Statement that calls members to stand in a direct way with the powerless and those on the fringes of society.

Over 400 years ago, Mary Ward, the founder of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was born into a world of turbulence.  Mary spent her life following God’s guidance in seeking something new.  She envisioned a religious community of women who were not cloistered, had no specific religious dress, and were free to bring God’s love wherever there was need.  Read her story here.

Mary Ward Center was established in 1999 in South Chicago to address the language needs of the local Hispanic immigrants.  Services are provided regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, or income.  MWC offers educational opportunities such as: tutoring in reading, writing, grammar, listening and speaking skills, basic computer training, and activities for spiritual growth and personal enrichment.

Our computer classes are small, allowing students to learn at their own pace with instructor guidance. Rosetta Stone, Maevis Beacon Teaches Typing, Microsoft Office, and basic internet skills are included in the computer curriculum. Since Covid-19, remote learning opportunities have also become available via Google Meet.

Learn about students’ journeys and Mary Ward Center’s impact and role in enriching their lives.
Make a direct impact by donating towards books, computers and the Mary Ward Center Scholarship Fund while meeting or reconnecting with Sisters and IBVM friends.
Can’t attend? You can still register and walk with us virtually or donate!
Contact development at 630-682-9097.
