Cantigny Park and the League of Women Voters invite the public to their next Civic Awareness Series program on Thursday, November 10, at 7 pm.

The League of Women Voters welcomes Peter Hancock of Capitol News to discuss the aftermath of Election Day. With our representatives chosen, what does the future look like for DuPage County and Illinois?

Meet the speaker: PETER HANCOCK joined the Capitol News Illinois team as a reporter in January 2019. Before that, he covered Kansas state government for much of the past two decades. For the previous four years, Hancock had been the statehouse reporter for the Lawrence Journal-World. He provided year-round daily coverage of the Kansas Statehouse, state government, appellate courts, elections and Kansas’ congressional delegation. Hancock spent eight years as a statehouse reporter for Kansas Public Radio, and with the Kansas Health Policy Authority and the Kansas Education Policy Report.

Nov 14    Living Room Conversations: Aspirations

Please join Living Room Conversations where small groups discuss a variety of topics to better understand everyone's point of view. We promote conversations about the subject of "Community" through openness to others with varying views. No matter how firm your beliefs, courageously listen with curiosity and respect in order to facilitate communication. This month's topic is Aspirations.

What are our hopes for the future? Headlines, news broadcasts, and social media often present conflicting reports on pressing issues of the day.  It can be difficult to stay open-minded to new learning or understand the perspectives of those we disagree with. Let's discuss current issues with the goal of identifying long-term values and aspirations we can all agree upon. Provided in partnership with the Wheaton Public Library. Please register to join the conversation!

This program is provided in the Zoom Meeting format so that you may better engage and interact with the presenter and other participants. Please turn your microphone and/or camera on.
