Jul 20    Seeing the Forest AND the Trees: Update from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County

Come learn about the many gifts of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County when Daniel Hebreard, president, when he presents "Seeing the Forest AND the Trees: An Update from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County" at our July luncheon. President Hebreard is a lifelong resident of DuPage County and a former ranger for the Forest Preserve District. He brings a passion for the environment along with years of experience to his role as a leader of this organization that includes 26,000 acres, 166 miles of trails and 60 forest preserves, generating 6.3 million visitors per year.

Jul 20    Civic Awareness Program: Affordable Housing in DuPage County: A Look to the Future
Free program; all are welcome to attend. The program is offered as a hybrid; please register for in-person or Zoom

The Wheaton Public Library in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Wheaton, Central Kane County, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, and Roselle-Bloomingdale invite the public to their next Civic Awareness Series program on Thursday, July 20, from 7 - 8:30 pm. 

DuPage County Board Members Liz Chaplin and Sam Tornatore, co-chairs of the ad hoc Committee on Affordable Housing, will present the preliminary findings of the committee as the county looks to the future.

The committee has begun to study a definition of affordability, evaluating the impact of local county policies on current development opportunities, analyzing actions of past boards that attempted to increase the affordable housing supply, and determining what resources are available to address the needs.
