Cream of Wheaton to Return in June
WHEATON, IL – The Wheaton Park District and Wheaton Chamber of Commerce are looking forward to bringing the Cream of Wheaton back to the community Thursday, June 2 through Sunday, June 5, 2022.
The first Cream of Wheaton festival was held on May 8, 1982, offering food booths, a 10K run and entertainment in the bandshell. In 1983, a petting zoo was added from Cosley Animal Farm (now Cosley Zoo), along with an arts and crafts fair and carnival rides.
In 2009, the Wheaton Park District and the Wheaton Chamber joined forces to combine two events, the Cream of Wheaton and Autumn Fest. At that time, it was decided to rebrand the event as Taste of Wheaton. The Taste of Wheaton continued for the next 10 years through 2019.
Unfortunately the event was not held in 2020 or 2021 due to the downtown Wheaton streetscape construction and COVID-19 gathering limitations.
"The Wheaton Park District is looking forward to bringing back the event programming that the community has come to enjoy," said Mike Benard, Executive Director. "The 2022 event will, once again, feature an arts and craft fair, carnival, business expo, the Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals, a variety of food vendors and live entertainment from the new bandshell in Memorial Park."
“Our board and members are thrilled to be volunteering with the Wheaton Park District again,” said Suzanne Royer of Northwestern Medicine, chairperson of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce board of directors. “We are excited to build on our previous partnership to offer ‘The Cream of Wheaton’ to the community, profiling our member businesses to residents and visitors.”
