A Celebration of Craft Beer
Naper Settlement is brewing up some great summer fun during the third annual “Celebration of Craft Beer” from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. Stroll the museum grounds, enjoy a catered dinner, hear live music, taste craft beers from 14 exceptional breweries and enjoy a raffle of beer-related items. Guests will learn about each specialty beer and the story of the breweries directly from brewery representatives; plus the history of Naperville’s Stenger Brewery. Guests must be 21 years of age or older. Purchasing tickets in advance is recommended as limited tickets will be available at the door. VIP tickets are $60/person, designated driver $35, and include early entry to event (from 6-6:30 p.m.), special appetizers and a gift pack with two brewery glasses and a t-shirt to take home (VIP tickets are available only through May 20). History Speaks:  John Philip Sousa - The Leader of the Band
Join veteran actor and historian Terry Lynch as he portrays the “March King” John Philip Sousa from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at Naper Settlement’s Century Memorial Chapel, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. Hear the story of how a 13-year-old boy runs away to join the circus, becomes the band master of the United States Marine Corps Band, conducts the President's own Marine Band under five presidents, and writes 136 military marches along the way! Suitable for all ages. Under the Stars & Stripes Camp Out
Bring the entire family for a unique overnight camping experience at Naper Settlement from 5 p.m. Friday, June 14 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15. Enjoy a catered dinner, participate in games and geocaching, rally around the flag in the fort to commemorate Flag Day and head out on a twilight tour of the grounds. End the evening with roasting marshmallows and songs around the campfire before settling into your tent for the night On Saturday morning, enjoy a continental breakfast and special tours of select historic buildings before the museum opens to the public. Settlement Sundays
On Sundays beginning June 16, Father’s Day, through Aug. 25 (excluding July 14), admission includes do-it-yourself ice cream sundaes and a variety of family-friendly activities for all ages at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. Settlement Sundays is sponsored by Culver’s. Hours are 1-4 p.m.; regular admission is $12 adult, $10 senior (62+), $8 youth (4-12). Naperville residents and members are free. Naper Nights Community Concert Series, presented by Sikich
Sikich presents the Naper Night Community Concert Series from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 21-22 at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. Bring your blankets and chairs to enjoy this first weekend of our summer outdoor concert series. On Friday, June 21 come hear American English and rock out to your favorite Beatles’ tunes. Opening act Ska To Catch 'Em All is a high energy ska band with a big brass section. Tickets are $10 senior/adult (13+), $5 youth (4-12). Righteous Hillbillies open the night on Saturday, June 22, with country rock from the ’70s through today, featuring the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, the Allman Brothers and more. Then rock out to Heartache Tonight, an Eagles Tribute Band. Tickets are $15 senior/adult (13+), $10 youth (4-12). Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the “Taste of Naperville,” sponsored by Sullivan’s Steakhouse. No outside food or beverages are allowed. Naper’s 19
Naper’s 19 is a guided walking tour of Joseph Naper’s original 19 blocks of Naperville and will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29. The tour steps off from Centennial Beach, 500 W. Jackson Ave., Naperville. Tour highlights include the site of Naper Academy, Hannah Ditzler’s home, the site of Stenger Brewery, and where Ed Stoos made his once famous Naperville soda water, with an emphasis on downtown Naperville living and the German immigrant experience.
