Residents Enrolled in Alternate Energy Supplier Program Soon Must Choose Supplier
WHEATON, Ill. – Wheaton residents enrolled in the alternate energy supplier program called the Energy Savings Program will soon have a decision to make, as the program will soon end.

In January 2012, the City of Wheaton encouraged residents to consider a program endorsed by the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus that provided significant savings for their energy supply compared to ComEd’s default rate. Integrys was the energy supplier
for this program instead of ComEd (the default supplier); and the program offered a guaranteed discounted rate through May 2013.

ComEd’s rate is expected to decrease to 5.511 cents per kWh June through September 2013. Integrys is quoting a renewal rate of 5.49 cents per kWh through May 2014.

The end of the Energy Savings Program is nearing. If you enrolled, you will receive or already have received a renewal notification from Integrys. You can choose one of the following options:

  1. Renew with Integrys,
  2. Choose a different supplier, notify Integrys NOT to renew the contract first, or
  3. Return to ComEd as your supplier and provider.
The City of Wheaton will not be making a recommendation regarding which supplier residents should choose. There are many alternative electricity suppliers available for review on the Citizens’ Utility Board website at www.citizensutilityboard.org/ciElectric_cubfacts_alternativesuppliers.html or visit Plug In Illinois’ website at http://pluginillinois.org/OffersBegin.aspx. All residents – regardless of whether they enrolled in the Energy Savings Program or not – continue to have the ability to choose their energy supplier.
