Mar 2    Candidate Forums for School District 200 and Wheaton City Council

The local election is Tuesday, April 4. Before you vote, get to know your candidates! 

The Wheaton League of Women Voters will be hosting a candidate forum to be held at Wheaton City Hall Council Chambers on March 2, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. Please come to the Council Chambers to learn about the candidates running for CUSD200 School Board and Wheaton City Council. Additionally, Wheaton Public Access will be recording and broadcasting the forum. We will have a link on the Wheaton LWV website to the recording after the event.

All District 200 and City Council Candidates on the April Ballot have been invited to attend.

If you have questions for the candidates, please submit them to voterservice@wheatonlwvil.org.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization and does not support or endorse candidates but does sponsor candidate forums as a service to the voters of the community.  

At the forum, the candidates will each give a one-minute opening statement. Candidates will have an opportunity to respond to questions that have been submitted in advance of the forum. Questions will be screened to avoid duplication. Candidates will have one minute to respond to each question. League members will time candidate’s responses to ensure equity. Following the question period, each candidate will have one minute to make a closing statement. Candidates must be present; a candidate’s representative will not be allowed to make a statement.

Mar 3    Children's Program and Voter Registration at Wheaton Library

Join us at the Wheaton Public Library Friday, March 3, from 10 a.m. till Noon when the League of Women Voters of Wheaton will be presenting a children's program, "Voting Is Your Superpower - Making Democracy Work." Even though children aren't old enough to vote, they're not too young to learn about democracy and voting because children's opinions matter! Children will learn through hands-on activities. No registration for this event is needed; stop by the Wheaton Library with children (K-5) to learn about voting and democracy together. Note: This program is intended for children and their caregivers to participate together; drop offs are not allowed.

Voter Registration. Do you need to register to vote? Have you moved or changed your name? League volunteers will also be registering voters; please bring two (2) forms of identification, one (1) with your current name and your current residence and one (1) with either your current name or your current residence. Volunteers can also show interested voters how to check their registration status, request a Vote-By-Mail ballot, or sign up to be an Election Judge.

Mar 16    Human Resources: Trends in 2023 and Beyond
What are some of the issues that employers?and employees?ought to know as we move into 2023? Join us on March 16 for our membership luncheon when Kimberly Glover, founder of gotKim? and Wheaton Chamber member, will share current trends in human resources. Come hear how HR issues are changing including the impact of DEI on hiring, salary transparency, pay parity and tips for finding and retaining great talent.

Kim is a CEO, certified career coach and SHRM-CP human resources professional with more than 10 years of experience. Her own struggles in college led her to discover her purpose: to help others in need of guidance. She?s been a coach and a mentor for local nonprofit organizations and is now a recruiter and a human resources leader. She founded her own consulting firm, gotKim?, in 2019.


Kim has a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and media studies from Northern Illinois University. She is in the process of creating a non-profit organization that assists young African American girls with career readiness and career development programs.

A celebration of women’s history and female empowerment at Cantigny Park

In honor of Women’s History Month and all the powerful women in our community, Cantigny Park is hosting an afternoon of activities to empower women of all ages.

The League of Women Voters of Wheaton will share information about the League and the April 4 election, including how to register to vote online.

Mar 25    A Celebration of India

You don't want to miss this! You are invited to join us for A Celebration of India, featuring the Grammy-nominated Berklee Indian Ensemble with an opening act from the Tarana School of Music and Dance. This spectacular event, sponsored by the College of Business and presented by the Indian Student Association, will showcase the rich cultural heritage and musical traditions of Southeast Asia and India.

The show begins at 4:30 PM. Doors open at 3:30 PM. Seating is general and available for occupancy on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Hot tea, coffee and bottled water will be available for purchase in the lobby cafe. Attire is smart casual. Traditional attire is welcome and optional. Parking is open and free at the venue.

Transportation is available for current NIU students. Students who elect the transportation option will receive transportation details through the e-mail used to purchase their ticket.

Tickets are required for admission. Registration closes March 23, 2023. Entry is for pre-registered paid guests only. Regretfully, late or onsite registration cannot be accommodated.
